Goal #42: Assemble a first aid bag to keep in my car

Accidents and emergencies can happen anywhere and at any given time. Therefore a first aid kit is kind of an important thing to have in your car. And the best part is, they're not expensive to keep up!

Target has these ready-made medibags for $13 and they come equipped with:

(12) Assorted Kid-Friendly bandages
(12) Junior bandages
(12) 3/4" X 3" Sheer bandages
(20) Antiseptic Wipes (sting-free)
(6) 2 X 2 Gauze Pads
(6) 3 X 3 Gauze Pads
(2) Knee and Elbow bandages
(1) Anti-Itch Ointment
(2) Antibiotic Ointments
(1) Burn Gel
(2) Hand Sanitizer packs
(1) Instant Cold Pack
(2) Blue Kid-Friendly Exam Gloves
(2) Fingertip bandages
(1) Plastic Disposable Tweezers
(10) Application Swabs
(1) Sting Relief Pad
(1) Emergency Information Label
(20) Kid-Friendly Fun Stickers
(1) First Aid Guide
(1) Kid-Friendly Organized Doctor's Bag

That's a lot! Then I added some pain reliever, antacids, eye drops (since I wear contacts), and some pain relieving ointment.. as well as some feminine products that I'm sure will come in handy.

ALL OF WHICH, is kept in the most adorable old-school-doctor bag! What's not to love?

NYC Garbage Art

Here's where package design proves it's worth in the world.  A fabulous package design can sell anything, even trash and Justin Gignac (jee-nak) proves just that.  Oh, and he thanks the NYC population for littering...
What I find even more amazing, is that these little cubes that started off as a mission to prove the gold that lies in package design, they were selling at $10 a piece.  But now that they have become art pieces - carefully arranged plastic cubes full of the stuff, certified never to leak or smell, each one signed, numbered, and dated, brings them up to $50 - and they continue to sell like hotcakes.  His friends must be kicking themselves.

PLUS, as a true artist Justin expanded his creative path into creating special edition cubes.  A brilliant idea considering the events that are constantly held in The Big Apple.  Some past editions have included Opening Day at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field, New Year’s Eve in Times Square and Obama’s Inauguration - each one selling for $100.  Smart thinking Justin!
Want your own cube?  Buy it here.  Want to see more of Justin's work?  Check it out here.

Casera Package Design

Check out this line of organic tequila, Casera.  Designed by Misako Ishida, Casera was handcrafted by women in a small town in Mexico.  Traditional Mexican clothes and patterns were incorporated into the design to engage the tequila-buying women.  I am a tequila-buying woman on occasion, and I must say I am engaged.

ILOVEDUST

ILOVEDUST is this fabulous design boutique that I came across recently - and this package design is what really got me digging more into their portfolio.  They made a whole bunch of sunglasses cases as a promotion piece for their portfolio book. Each case was hand made and screen printed, with all sorts of sunglass styles.. Check 'em out:
If you like what you see here form ILOVEDUST, then check out Madalyn's blog where I shared another fun portfolio piece from ILOVEDUST.

Pantone Packaging

Another artist-submitted design to TheDieline.  I think it is absolutely great when artists submit their concept designs to sites like TheDieline.  There is so much talent out there, that I think it is essential for artists to have a forum to showcase it.  Great job Samy Halim.

Make You Blush...

Check out this racy package design for sensis condoms done by Spring Design Partner. Clean and simple design, but with an artful touch with these flowing lines creating some positions sure to make you blush, smile, or maybe giggle nervously. And even better, when you visit their site they don't just display these designs, what happens is the colorful lines begin flowing across your screen to create the figures.

Box Bottle Bag

Whether it be a box, bottle or bag, I have always found myself drawn to package designs for as long as I can remember. I look at a packaged up product and judge it not only on what it contains, but how its all put together. Not to say I will just pass up a product for its crappy design, but sometimes you can't help but wonder how or why things are done the way they are. Here is a book, covering all the world's best packaging designs from TheDieline.com - Box Bottle Bag. This would be fun to just have around to flip through every now and again for inspiration.

Tee-bag Tops

Check out these cute tea bags from designer Soon Mo Kang. The most unique part of their packaging is how each little t-shirt tea bag comes packaged in an adorable little closet. I'm slightly curious though as to how well they stay secured to the rim of the cup. None the less, these were far too rad not to share.

Candlestick Matchbook

How adorable and well designed are these 5 minute Candles? I completely agree that these little babies would be perfect for all kinds of spontaneous celebrations of happy moments. The book of matches packaging is a spot-on design element that adds so much character. You expect matches and get 10 small candles instead.
And of course the fact that you don't have to break them off and stand 'em up on a birthday treat to enjoy them is pretty rad too. I'm officially down to carry them with me every where. How great would it be to be able to whip these cuties out at any moment to celebrate someone’s birthday, special celebrations, or add instant romance to date night?! And the best thing about these is - they're $6 bucks for a pack of 4! Talk about deal.

Mysterio Predicts Babys Future

Not only is this product pretty hilarious, but the packaging is top-notch as well! Designed and illustrated in-house by Wry Baby, Mysterio predicts your baby's future on a t-shirt. Yep, a cute little t-shirt. There are 12 possible futures, each shirt sewn into a muslin bag, sealed until the parent pulls the red string, revealing their child's exciting future! My favorite part is the treated boxes that look like they just fell off the boat from some far off island.

Swedish Font Love

A Swedish student created both the packaging design and product - cookie cutters based on the font didoni. With Christmas sneaking up on us, I found this to be rather appropriate after discussing a possible cookie exchange that may go down this year.
I would love to get my hands on something like this. Read more about her project here.
P.S. Unless you speak Swedish, you will be needing to utilize your online translator.

Chipotle Packaging

As you may remember when this blog was born I professed my love for Chipotle. Well Lovely Package has shared these new packaging designs done by design agency Sequence. They created a new design using some unique, hand-drawn messages from customers, employees and even ingredients. This new "lighthearted, passionate approach is the perfect vehicle to convey Chipotle’s ‘un-chain’ philosophy.”
Me likey.
