A Day In...

...this man's big heart.

{via}

Melts my heart to see a man make such a statement of love.

Update background of this proposal story via A Cup of Jo:
Pete wanted to propose to his girlfriend Shannon, so he went to a Mexican restaurant and spelled out his his proposal in a photo booth. And it was harder than it looks: "He told me he only had the exact change for five strips," says Shannon, "becau...se he didn't realize they were $3 each, so he was really nervous that he was going to mess up the order of the letters. Thus him making a 'Oh my god, I hope I got this right' face in the last photo." Pete then stuck the strips on their fridge, and Shannon discovered it while they were cooking pasta. How sweet is that?

Say Hello to Fabulous!

Yes... I am drooling over this photo!  The dress, the shoes, the necklace, the braid!
Oh goodness!  I'm beyond the words inspired and in love.

See, it's simple

"See, it's simple... First, you meet a nice girl, and then you date for a while to make sure you share the same values.  See if you two are compatible in the big, 'this is our life and we're in it together' decisions.  You know, talk about which family you're going to visit on the holidays, whether you want to live in a house or an apartment, whether to get a dog or a cat, who gets to use the shower first in the morning, while there's still plenty of hot water.  If you two are still pretty much in agreement, then you get married."
At First Sight, Nicholas Sparks
Is it really that simple?

You meet someone.
Date for a while.
Make sure you're in agreement on all the important stuff.
Then comes a ring?
Then comes marriage?

Look Familiar?

I am a huge fan of The Notebook, as well as I'm sure a billion other women.  But this couple absolutely took their love for the story and made it the center of their engagement photos.  Everything from the polka dot dress, the beat up truck, to scene specific moments such as taking off the pantyhose, the morning-after-naked-while-painting scene and of course, the make out in the rain scene!

Happy Happy Birthday!

I remember the day this crazy blog began and I can't beleive it has already been a year!!! Well, Happy Birthday The Lime & The Coconut! I love love love pretty much everything that goes up on this blog and I just wanted to share some of my all time favorites that have either inspired me or just simply made me smile!!!

Here are some of my favorite posts over the past 365 days...

Fashion ...
If you know me.. I am a huge shopaholic and I cannot stay away from clothing websites to save my life. One of my new favorites of the year is http://www.lulus.com/ where I found my graduation dress that Erin posted about. This dress was so stinking comfortable and totally adorable! I got it in gray and am thinking of sporting it this weekend in San Diego for my 5 Year Anniversary!

Wedding...
Who ever thought of using cotton to make a wedding dress??! Well I think it is a genius idea and when my day comes I will definitely be sporting a cotton gown. This one is Erin's all time favorite and I can't deny it. The bottom of the gown zips off for two separate looks and I think it's incredible! I hope I see you wearing this some time in the near future!

Etsy...
I have yet to purchase from Etsy but I think the site is amazing and offers such great products. This is one of my favorites. If I was bold enough to wear this I definitely would.. Maybe I'll made a DZP list and put "Wear a daring accessory" on it and purchase this..

Books...
Erin recently completed this book for her DZP and handed it over to me and I cannot put it down! I find myself laughing out loud while on the stairmaster at the gym.. and then realizing I'm in public. Chelsea Handler is a genius in this book, and probably her other ones, if you haven't thought to pick this up - I strongly suggest you do! Just to be able to LAUGH

Family...
I love when I see posts about our family, friends, animals, etc. This is one of my favorite pictures of me and my lovely sister from over the years and I can't even tell you how much I love this woman. She's pretty incredible, to keep it short and sweet. This blog has thrived because of you and I just want to wish The Lime & The Coconut a Happy 1st Birthday!

Mercy Cards

Great wedding present don't you think?

The Crane Chandelier Project

My mom forwarded me a link to peruse some eco-friendly wedding ideas (not that I'm engaged or anything) and I came across this Crane Chandelier Project by The Wedding Co.  They have begun a challenge of building a chandelier from thousands of origami cranes, all of which are coming from engaged couples around the world, to help fund cancer research.  For ever crane they receive, they are donating 5 cents to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.  The ultimate goal is to collect 10,000 of these tokens of love by January 2011 when The Wedding Co. will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Being that cranes are marked by a symbol of peace, prosperity and friendship - it is fitting that engaged couples are representing their leap of love, commitment and patience by donating signed cranes to this great research.  I love that they give the option to have a crane sent to you, or you can submit your own - which some couples have submitted hundreds, even 1000 cranes in their name.  Don't know how to make one?  They have that covered:

Proposal Performance

You have to give this guy some major credit for being able to coordinate this entire thing, all the people, all the moves, major points!

Personalized Love Hearts

British artist Veronika Pollard cuts out tiny hearts from colored paper or newspapers, then arranges them in artful ways.  She creates a 3D art piece that can be personalized with initials, or an anniversary / wedding date.  These are simple yet sweet pieces, while I'm not sure how she places some of the hearts, I still feel like this is a legit DIY project for anyone... find them at her Etsy shop.

Need a Charming Touch?

Cox & Cox has these dainty lotus tea lights that I must agree add a sweet and charming touch to any women's inspired party.  I especially love the fact that they're scented, just like actual flowers.  They’re so dainty and they burn for about an hour and a half.

Anti-Wedding Wedding Shoes

Hey Lady, is full of some incredible wedding heels - better known as anti-wedding wedding shoes.  I however completely disagree.  All of the Leung twins' heels are 100% wedding wedding shoes.  I'm sure they weren't the first to think that there needs to be an anti-dyeable, actually-danceable wedding shoe.  But I wonder how many of them decided to create their own collections... here are my favorites.
