"Peaceful thoughts take practice. We won't just wake up one day and find that all thoughts of fear, anger, resentment, anxiety, and the like have left us. The truth is, most of us will never be completely free of negative and destructive thoughts, but we can have them less and less often. When we become aware of a thought that isn't peaceful, we can choose to notice it, gently accept that we have such a thought, and then say STOP! We can bring our awareness to our hearts, where we feel love and think of something peaceful, or we can turn our awareness to the God of our understanding.
