Meditation

They say the chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.  The chains you put around yourself now have enormous consequences as you go through life.

- Warren Buffet

" This might be a good day to look at the habits that fill your time and thoughts, drain your energy, and keep you stuck.  What do you think you can't live without?  Coffee?  Alcohol?  Drugs?  Gambling?  Shopping?  TV?  E-mail?  Sex?  Or the less obvious habits such as the need for excitement, drama being right, new clothes, computer games?
"Many times we don't realize that we are hooked on something we like.  We think we can give it up any time.
"Why not try it today?  Give up something you enjoy for a week or two.  See how you feel.  See how often you think about this during the day.  Notice how often your mind goes to it.  Notice how much space it take up in your attention.  How much energy it drains from your life.
"Before long, the perceived need for your habit will dissipate.  Once it does, you will notice the extra time you have in your days and in your thoughts.  Notice the peace you have when your energy isn't spent on your habit.
"Today I am examining any habit I have that takes up time and space and energy.  I am willing to let go of this habit so I can be free and feel the peace of each moment."
